Highly Sustainable Editor of CNET News’ Green Tech Page – Treehugger’s Best Green Science and Technology Blog of 2010

Our #FollowFriday-Worthy recommendation this week is Martin LaMonica, reporter and editor of the Green Tech News Blog at CNET.

Martin LaMonica Green Tech

We ran into Martin when we first nabbed a client in the environmental space a couple of years ago. Martin instantly became one of our favorite editors in the green tech industry, because he is a regular online source for daily news, analysis and commentary on energy, materials, and water technologies.

Martin and his team at CNET deliver useful and interesting information with commentary for anyone who likes to stay close to the environmental consciousness beat.

I have always been a tree hugger myself and I have bumped into a few fanatic greenies who will beat you to a pulp to convert you to conservation.

But that’s not the case with Martin. Once you begin following him and his team on a regular basis, you will certainly get a good grip on anything that’s green from an educated perspective.

This is what Martin does: he educates you and helps you evolve to fully understand and appreciate sustainability, conservation and all the good things that come with being in tune with the world of resourcefulness.

Martin’s style and focus come from over 20 years of experience as a reporter, editor and photographer covering business and technology. Before covering clean tech in 2005, he was deep into IT, covering web development technologies and business software at CNET. Prior to that, he was executive editor at InfoWorld, where he managed the news department and wrote a weekly column.

Get to Know Martin

Martin found some time in his busy schedule to share his personal side with us. This is as fresh and green as they come:

Laughs at: George Carlin – cynical and funny.

Hopes: to improve the conversation around energy and environment through my job.

Thinks: that the conversation around energy and environment is often pretty lousy, particularly in the halls of Congress.

Reveals: that I’m not very comfortable talking about myself.  (How’s that for a dodge?)

Dream Coffee Date: Energy Secretary Steven Chu – he’s the geek’s geek.

Is Inspired By: Kids. I’ve given talks to elementary school-age kids and they are really tuned into environmental issues.
