An Analog Master and Mind in a Digital World

Bill Schweber of EE Times Planet Analog HeadshotOur #FollowFriday worthy recommendation this week is Bill Schweber, site editor and print manager for EE Times’ Planet Analog.  Years ago, when I was looking for the analog guru at EE Times, the first few calls I made were to friends who understood analog technology.  The first person each mentioned was Bill. Then, I checked with media veterans and industry analyst friends. They also recommended the same guy – Bill Schweber, analog mastermind at EE Times.

Bill has written hundreds of opinion pieces (some have won industry awards) as well as in-depth design and application articles.  He is also an author of three engineering textbooks. Without a doubt, Bill’s background as an electrical engineer (BSEE/MSEE) at various technology companies and as EDN’s first analog-beat editor then executive editor has definitely honed his craft.

EE Times’ Planet Analog is THE place to find valuable information and resources for analog designers and engineers using analog ICs and components, including analog design, teardowns, information on courses and webinars, and product reviews. Planet Analog also offers interesting blogs, sometimes with an analog twist like Bill’s latest, which pokes fun at AC power cycling design when he recently lost power in his house.

Bill’s role as editor means he oversees content creation, site direction and management, vendor interface, product focus and making the site’s key resources for the design community.  In addition to Planet Analog, Bill also manages two more communities within EE Times – PowerManagement, DesignLine and Medical DesignLine.

“Analog Bill” who is a true technical whiz confessed how hard it was to fill in the blanks.  Get to know his fun side:

Laughs at: British comedies

Hopes: Engineers and scientists get as much attention as Hollywood celebrities

Thinks: It won’t happen, unfortunately

Reveals: Not too much

Dream Coffee Date: Princess Leia or C3PO!

Is Inspired By: People in arts and sciences with genuine talent or accomplishment

If you are on the lookout for new things in technology and of course, the analog space, keep a close eye on Bill Schweber’s EE Times Planet Analog and tweets.
